Title: Director, Product Marketing
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Salary Range:   $90,000 to $120,000, Depending on experience
Location: Fully Remote

The Opportunity: This is an opportunity for a creative marketing professional with an entrepreneurial mindset to lead a unique product marketing effort of a growing, global, technology-based non-profit organization.   The right candidate will be a forthright problem solver, able to interface with both technologists and fellow marketers and bring them together on joint initiatives. They should be able to develop programs that channel community resources to effective and unified marketing campaigns.  

Overview of Drupal:  Drupal is an open-source, digital-experience enabling software with one of the world's largest independent, most pioneering open source communities supporting it. Drupal is used by ambitious businesses, governments and nonprofits throughout the world, with one in forty websites being built with Drupal globally, including major organizations like NASDAQ, Oxford University, the United Nations, and thousands more.

Elements of the Role:

  • Using the Association’s Drupal Product Marketing Strategy, develop a keen understanding of Drupal’s target audience and a strong knowledge of relevant product features to develop initiatives that improve the presence of Drupal in the marketplace.

  • Together with the Drupal Core Maintainers, Community leaders, and Drupal Association staff, educate both community and non-community stakeholders about Drupal’s features and benefits.

  • Lead product marketing by creating content directly as well as facilitating community members in the creation of content (e.g. sales enablement documentation, case studies, product videos, website copy, blog posts, Quora/forum responses) to articulate the benefits of Drupal to businesses, non-profits, and governments throughout the world.

  • Create and manage a Channel Partner Program, assisting members with materials and guidance as they market Drupal as part of their service offering.  Execute on a plan to recruit new partners. 

  • Bring awareness to Drupal through content such as social media, copywriting, and blogs.  Be able to develop focused campaigns, create a budget, and craft a project plan, implement and evaluate effectiveness.

  • Speak and present both internally and externally to promote the story of Drupal.

  • Develop Awareness activities and programs worldwide to expand the knowledge and implementation of Drupal .  Digital Marketing included. 

  • Actively work with community members and partner organizations to determine priorities for the Marketing of Drupal.  

  • Participate in DrupalCon North America and Europe planning by providing feedback, attending DrupalCons and being available to present at DrupalCons where appropriate. 

 

Candidate Qualities

  • BA/BS degree in business, marketing or related field or equivalent working experience.

  • 7+ years of experience in digital marketing, product marketing, and/or product management.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills -- there is a heavy amount of writing and presenting/selling ideas in this role.

  • Proficiency in content management systems. Able to build product pages, optimize the conversion paths on those pages, and use dynamic calls-to-action to create and test buyer stage-specific calls-to-action.  Specific experience in technical product marketing as plus.

  • Highly collaborative and flexible with the ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people. Able to influence community members and partners through active participation in and with the community. 

  • Firm grasp of ways to develop strategic product marketing campaigns and able to lead campaigns through third parties.

  • High degree of empathy for others’ perspectives and circumstances.

  • A professional and personal commitment to equity, accessibility, and justice and establishing an equitable, accessible, and just work environment.

 

Location and Travel 

  • Fully remote position (home office)

  • Flexible work schedule with the need to adjust occasionally to accommodate global time zones

  • Requires some travel/in-person throughout the year for major events, board meetings, partner meetings, staff retreats and DrupalCons.

This position is a full-time, exempt position.
